Reconnecting Day 1

It is hard for us, even as Christians, to rest on this Sabbath day.
I learned a valuable lesson after having my children. This day is a day of rest; rest in the Lord. Knowing that He is holding me and that today I can enjoy His presence. Because clearly, I cannot completely rest. I still have babies to change, feed, bathe, dress, teach and discipline. However, I was told by a very wise and respectable woman that even in doing those things, I should be resting the arms of love. Resting in His perfect peace for the day. Knowing that I'm doing those things because of Him. Because of my deep love for Him and my deep desire to rest in Him. And although I feel that way everyday, Sunday always seems different.
It's my rest day.

RECONNECT!
--Walk through your house.
Find a room that has looked the same for a long amount of time, or needs a good cleaning.
Ask your partner to join you in the work involving that room.
Do not turn on music, the TV or anything else distracting. Do not answer text messages or phone calls, unless it is absolutely necessary.
Focus on the goal and don't stop working together until you have finished.

Yesterday Daniel & I went into the toy room together during nap time. We looked around and made a plan to clean and rearrange the space. Every Christmas we have to move it around to fit the Christmas tree in front of the window. Sometime before spring, I like it back in order so the kids can look out that same window when it starts to get nice outside!

It took us only one hour from the time we started picking up toys to the time we moved the last piece of furniture and finished running the vacuum. We worked together to finish one common goal. Although there was no actual intimacy, per se, there was a distinct difference in our connection during that hour than there has been the rest of the week.

Let me know how it works if you try it in your home!
Today is a great day to start reconnecting!

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself."
Luke 10:27
