When Jeni was 8 years old, Pawpy bought her a pony. It was for her birthday and until that day she was terrified to ride. And then she laid eyes on a blue eyes pony named Oreo and her heart softened. It was from that moment on that she was officially a rider of horses. Nanny and Pawpy always made our dreams come true...
Life is funny; how it changes. Today I watched life change in a couple different ways and in each way I realized how devastating, scary and sad it can be. I am reminded that life is short and complicated. It's unfair and confusing. It's a hard road and it's much easier if you aren't traveling it alone.
Oreo is a mother. And a grandmother. And she has cancer.
Pawpy doesnt want her to have to suffer and none of us would want that either. She doesn't deserve to suffer in this life. She has brought so much joy to so many people.
Most of all-to Jeni.
...And to Pawpy.
Because when Pawpy bought Oreo, the dream he had as a young boy to become a cowboy came true. He bought more horses, began helping with 4-H and built his dream farm in the country. Because of Oreo, Pawpy's dreams came true too. That is something that he will always be grateful for, I know.
So tomorrow, Oreo will join Nanny in Heaven. If Heaven has room for horses. But I'm sure it does. It's a beautiful thought to imagine Steff riding Oreo through the fields of open wild flowers and Nanny laughing that laugh that cannot be mistaken as she sees her blue eyed pony running toward her.
We are thankful for the years that have been sweet and delicate with Oreo. She was the best pony that 3 little kids could have asked for...and then 3 more.
She deserves Heaven. And although we are sad, we are confident that we will all be cowgirls again someday....
We love you, baby.

She's beautiful Ramee! Prayers for Oreo...
:( I am so sorry your family has to say goodbye to Oreo. This post made me cry, as goodbyes are never easy. I hope against hope that Heaven has room for animals. That is something I have thought about since I was 5 and lost my first doggy, Cinnamon. Heaven is an awesome place, that I am sure of, but getting to pet Cinnamon for my eternity...that would really be something. <3
I'm trying hard to swallow the lump in my throat right now... this post had me choked up. Prayers for your family, Ramee.
