Dear Braden,
Today you are 4!!! I woke up and imagined that you would look little once again. But then I realized that you don't and will never again be this chubby faced, long haired boy.
I want you to know a few things. First of all, I am so in love with the little boy that you are! You haven't changed much in the last four years--you are still loud, aggressive, argumentative, frustrated, and demanding.
However, you have grown into a young boy with so many awesome traits! You love to pray. This makes me so proud of you. You love to dance and you are an amazing singer [really!] You haven't eaten well this year but I have a feeling the tides are turning. I think you'll enjoy food again the way you once did when you were a little younger. You love your sisters and this year especially you have been learning to be a gentleman, thanks to your Aunt Rachel. You are still taking your binky which is ridiculous but honestly, I don't mind. It brings you comfort and without it you're still pretty intense. So here's hoping you'll cave soon and get rid of it on your own. You may have gotten your stubbornness from {ahem} your mama.
You love to play outside and were so happy that you got a new bike for your birthday!
We are starting pre-school next week and you seem to be excited. There is already so much that you know but I can't wait to teach you more. You have a great memory which I think will serve you well when we practice your Bible verses. You have the kindest heart and always rub my face and tell me that you love me.
{I love you too, buddy.}
You came into my life and changed me, Braden Eugene. You changed me in such a massive, unpredictable, shot in the dark kind of way. But in the best of ways, I know. You gave me a kind of resilience and strength that I know now was planned and purposed for such a time in my life as this. So thank you, bub. Thank you for being screaming, crying, whining you.
Because you is perfect.
I want you to know how much you are loved and cherished. You are so unique and everything about you is special to us. You love everyone you meet and they immediately love you too. This is a precious quality, buddy. I can't wait to continue watching you grow and change.
God has a marvelous plan in store for your life and I know you will execute it in your own way. This makes me so thankful!
Most of all, on this {perfect fall} day I want you to know how much I love and adore you. You are the greatest gift I could have received and I am beyond humbled by you.
You keep me on my toes and you pull me through almost every day. You are the reason for my drive and push. You are the reason for my laughter and dance.
You put a song in my heart, brother.
And today I sing it to you...
You'll always be my boy...
Mama
